Review

Spark (Hailey Holloway, #1)Spark by K.C. Stewart

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm not usually one to read dragon books, but I received this one from Netgalley for an honest review and thought I'd give it a try and I'm really glad I did!
The book was full of comedy, romance, and drama. It wasn't so much romance that you would need a cold shower afterwards, but just enough to keep you turning the pages.
The main character was hilarious, quirky, nerdy, and feisty. She was easy to relate to and I really liked that. This was one of those books that I was thinking about days after I finished reading it. The description of the dragons was beautiful and the men are loyal and fierce. I like that there are different colors of dragons and with that comes certain personality traits. If you want to read a book that has action, romance, relate-able characters, and is well written, then I recommend this book. I will definitely read the next book in the series!

p.s.- Really love the cover! It's one of the main reasons why I chose to give this book a try.

Blood Enchantment

(Blood Series, #6)

by Tamara Rose Blodgett

Blurb:

Julia's spirit is crushed as she sits trapped in the Singer bunker while heaven knows what happens to her people in the evil hands of Praile.

Meanwhile, the insidious demon's spore flourishes, reeking havoc on what makes her angelic. Now it's a waiting game until Julia and Scott are released from their forced protection into a potential second catastrophe.

Adi and Slash have fallen prey to the corrupt Were, as Tramack doggedly seeks that which he does not deserve. Can Tessa and Tahlia escape? Will Lanarre royalty cage Tahlia, or will Drek set her free?

Does Lazarus escape the depths of hell, only to fail in his pursuit of the ultimate forbidden fruit?

Excerpt
“He is certainly the one who was behind the Singer genocide here—using Tony. We know that Tony did not act of his own volition. He could not have.”

Julia nods a little too quickly.

“A great offense is the best defense,” Scott says.

Julia whips her head to his. “Yes.”

“Let's talk about what to do when we finally get outta here.”

Victor says, “Agreed.”

“What—” Julia sucks in a huge lungful of air, ready to verbalize the unthinkable. “What if everyone is dead… again?”

Scott drops her hand, folding his arms across his chest. “No way—refusing that outcome.”

“Scott?” Julia cries. “We have to address the possibility.”

Victor cups his chin. “We need to assume that if a high demon has left the realm of Hades to seek the death of the Rare One, that would be the only goal. Killing Singers was more about decimating numbers, and he tasked that to a lackey—Tony Laurent, who is now deceased.”

Yeah he is.

Julia still remembers his ripped-out crotch. Scott, apparently sensing the distasteful memory, slides his arm around her shoulders and draws her close. “So the big wig comes to do me in?”

“I would not put it quite like that. But they were aware of your…” He clears his throat delicately. “Unfinished ties to Scott, and while you were vulnerable, they presumed to end you.”

“But now we're tied—in every conceivable way,” Scott repeats unnecessarily, and Julia suppresses the urge to elbow him.

A small smile hovers on his face as he gets a sense of her embarrassment.

I need!!

So I just read the excerpt for Riders by Veronica Rossi and I gotta say I'm definitely intrigued! I was already planning to check this book out anyways just because of the cover, it's pretty awesome right? Well after reading the first few chapters I'm dying to read the rest.

Blurb:

For eighteen-year-old Gideon Blake, nothing but death can keep him from achieving his goal of becoming a U.S. Army Ranger. As it turns out, it does.

Recovering from the accident that most definitely killed him, Gideon finds himself with strange new powers and a bizarre cuff he can't remove. His death has brought to life his real destiny. He has become War, one of the legendary four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Over the coming weeks, he and the other horsemen--Conquest, Famine, and Death--are brought together by a beautiful but frustratingly secretive girl to help save humanity from an ancient evil on the emergence.

They fail.

Now--bound, bloodied, and drugged--Gideon is interrogated by the authorities about his role in a battle that has become an international incident. If he stands any chance of saving his friends and the girl he's fallen for--not to mention all of humankind--he needs to convince the skeptical government officials the world is in imminent danger.

But will anyone believe him?

New name, new design!

Hi! I know it's been awhile since my last post, like waayyy too long, but sometimes life gets chaotic and more important things take top priority. While I was away I got married, bought a house, and had a beautiful baby girl so I'm sure you all can understand while I didn't have much free time! But now that things have calmed down I'm back and can't wait to get started doing my reviews again! I've missed it so much. I'm still getting the hang of this mommy thing plus still working my full time job so I won't be able to post everyday, but I will try to atleast post 3 times a week. Wondering what's with the name change? I decided to change it from PR Book Reviews to Shalyn's Book Reviews because while I was away I decided to give other book genres a chance and guess what..I fell in love with New Adult! So since I no longer only read PR, I figured a name change would be needed. Now I need to write/post all my new reviews and make over this blog.. busy busy!

Love you all & missed you bunches!!

Review!

Djinn (Djinn, #1)Djinn by Laura  Catherine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely LOVED this book! It's well written, funny, romantic, and intriguing! I'm also in love with the cover (: I really liked all of the characters in this book. Will is such a gentlemen, which is pretty rare anymore. In a lot of books I've been reading lately the guy is always some huge bad ass with a soft heart. Will can kick some ass, but he is very caring and sweet. Kyra is an awesome heroine. She can handle herself, she's smart, and even though she's been through a lot, she never let's it get her down for long. The plot is very intriguing and tons of characters to fall for! I really enjoyed this "genie" world and can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
